alkaline water and a fine nutrient rich substrate. Vallisneria americana
"natans" is fast growing and propagates from the rhizome. As for
many other aquarium plants, the maximum size depends much on the size of the
aquarium. Therefore, this relatively large plant can also be used in the
background of small aquaria where it seldom reaches a length of more than 40
cm.
