wThe new 745i takes
advantage of many new varible adjusting systems. For the first time ever, the
new V8 features a system called DIVA, a new fully variable intake manifold
system. DIVA, combined with VANOS and bmw's recently released valvetronic
system offer lower fuel consumption and high perfromance than the previous 7
series sedans. The valvetronic system varies the degree of valve lift to
control engine breathing, thereby negating the need for a throttle body.
The V8 is mated to an all new 6 speed automatic with integrated shift-by-wire
technoology.
The interior space is cleaned up with use of BMW's iDrive technology first
seen in the Z9 convertible concept. The majority of the secondary controls
are now operated through a central conroller. A central conputer monitor
displays the various functions.
The new 7 Series also offers internet access through an individually
configured WAP-supported BMW internet portal incorporated in the car.
