LAB 9-2: ROUTER INTERFACE CONFIGURATION
Objective: Configure IP address assignments to router interfaces
Objective: Document all IP address that are reachable via the ICMP Ping command
after interface configurations are complete.
From the Router console
Step 1 - Enter user exec mode with the cisco password
Step 2 - Enter ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for all IP interfaces in lab configuration
and Document in your LAB Engineering Journal the responses from
typing the ICMP Ping command

ping.

Step 3 - Enter enable exec mode with the class password
Step 4 - display the current running-configuration

assigned to them

Step 5 - Enter configuration mode by entering config term command at the router prompt.

Step 6 - Enter interface e 0 ( this can be abbreviated to int e 0 )

Step 7 - Enter ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy
Were xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx equals the ip address you want to assign to the interface
and yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy equals the subnet mask you want to assign to the interface.
Base these assignments on the information in the LAB diagram
Step 8 - Enter exit
This will take you back one level in the enable exec.

Step 9 - Hit the control and Z keys (ctrl-z) at the same time.

Note: You will have to hit the enter key after the router prompt to continue.
Step 10 - Enter the show running-config command at the router prompt
This command will display the changes that you have made.
Question ? What Did the router display say about the IP address and Subnet
mask for interface e 0.

Note: The configuration change you just made is in effect but is not
stored in memory. If you want to make this change permanent
you must complete step 11. If the change is not written to memory
it will go away next time the router reboots.
Step 11 - Enter the ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx command (were xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the ip
address of the interface you just configured ) to verify that the interface is
up and alive.
Step 12 - Enter the copy running start command at the router prompt.
This command will permanently write the configuration change to memory
Step 13 - Repeat steps 5 - 12 for all interfaces on you router.

Verify that the interface addresses in the running configuration are the
