EDUCATION AND SOCIETY
Until the mid-20th century, education was based on these aspects: how children were brought up at home and strategies and methods used in classroom teaching. The societal framework was more or less disregarded. There were, of course, excepti 20120y2412u ons to this narrow view on education - for instance that of John Dewey who consistently saw the school in its societal context. Thus, society and education have a strong relationship. Education is a great part of our society and one of the main tools for the growth of the society. Without education there would not be any social change nor would people care on how to better our society. Thus, education is one of the key components of change in our society.
When we talk about education most people associate it with change, because by educating one self on different topics and things that are important in our life we are opening new opportunities for everyone around us. For instance in the article they are trying to create smaller schools which are going to benefit everyone, the student, the teacher and the society. By creating smaller schools they are giving more attention to the student in order to excel and make something of themselves. In addition, they are creating schools that are based on academic themes. By doing this they are choosing kind of like trade schools to get the students to learn something that will benefit the community.
Education has always played an important role in the society. For instance what would we do if no one was educated and we didn't have doctors, lawyers and those that fight for people rights. All of these are benefiting the community, if a student wants to be a Doctor and the society helps him accomplish that, then in return they will get a Doctor in the community. The article states "The schools will give students more individual attention and the opportunity to attend programs more aligned with their interest". By doing this each community will benefit, because they can send the kids to a school that will benefit the community and their interests. In the article they also state that "The smaller school is a platform for creating the kind of learning communities need for higher levels of achievement". This quote clearly shows the relationship between education and society and how they are connected to one another.
One example I can give on education and society is the country of Bosnia and Hercegovina. Due to the war that had occurred most of the schools were closed and children did not have a way to educate themselves. Right now after the war the whole society is fighting to give the children the best possible education, because they know that the only way they can rebuilt the society is by educating the children. By doing this the society is rebuilding itself. This is one example on how education plays a role in society.
Thus, public education plays an important role in our everyday life and our society. The way that we are taught does affect our society and how we choose to repay our society. By getting the best education there is we are opening new doors to our future and are building a new society for ourselves. Giving an education to our children is the best thing that we can do for our society growth. Clearly education impacts society more than people think it does, that is why we have to focus on giving the best education that we can for the future of our society.
