WhiteSun Ascension: Unique RP'nWar Game
Welcome
to Aldoryul, my friend! Welcome to the so famous
lands of Lovumterra, which are about to become the
siege of a huge disaster. This map constitutes an innovative RPG with epic war
game possibilities - hence the title RPWG which stands for Role Playing 'n War
Game. It can be played as a small MMORPG combined with the opportunity of
leading several armies and races. Besides different towns and tribes, there are
3 main opposed forces. Players will have to choose one of these forces at the
beginning of the game, in function of the selected hero. Note that some neutral
heroes can still be picked, but they will have to rally a force later.
Though there is an AI (hard), you can also discover the world on your own (AI
can be deactivated), but the original purpose of this map is to be played by at
least 3 players.

Features
First of all, what you must not expect from this map
- A complete balanced map. This is not a melee game,
and there are very different ways to play this map and do RP, diplomacy
but also strategy. Some heroes are stronger than some others, and the
weakest have often more powerful spells.
- A linear butchery map o 757i819h r a common open RPG. Long to
understand the concept, some players give up often at the beginning,
whereas the more patient stay usually a long time. So if you want a simple
map to just kick some monsters for hours, it's better to play a defense or
an offense map. This map is very interesting, and if you like it, excitement
can get more and more intense while playing, unlike butchery maps, which
are very fun at the beginning, but quickly boring
- No repick and no save:
these functions are not compatible with this type of game.
- All stats have been changed, they're kind of ADD
stats - I was tired of 205462 hit points units. However, attack cool downs
have been increased (2 to 3 times longer) in order to make battle last
long enough. Note that heroes are weak at the beginning, but become
quickly amazingly strong compared to other units. So don't worry if you
have 1 in strength at the beginning of the game, a common unit has 0 in
stats - 0 means average and no bonus; 10 means professional/excellent; 20
Amazing; 30 hero, 40 Half God.

Now, the Good Points
A true RPG
- A unique random quest system, which allows the
player to improve his/her reputation toward concerned towns and cities, in
order to take control of these places later
- Some fixed core quests which trigger the ownership of
famous artifacts or ultimate deadly warriors
- On Aldoryul, there are 3
main forces, but there can be only one! Among the Alliance, the Undeads
of the White Sun, and Gomorrhus Minions, you are
the one who will make the destiny of Aldoryul!
- A unique Karma system which provides
directions to your heroes on how it must behave to please its Gods. Kill
villagers, and become evil; rescue an elven
child and follow the path of Light. Satisfy your Gods, and you may be
rewarded. Do the opposite of what your God expects you to do, and become a
traitor, which will bring your doom for you will no longer be resurrected
by your God.
- A choice of 18 particular heroes - but no repick
- A profession system modifying your stats and giving
you new features - including one spell / hero, more than 20 new spells are
available -, which enable you to personalize greatly your hero beyond its
core class
- Ability to enrol a
companion among the 8 secondary heroes hidden on the map.
- A freedom to explore the world, do quests, choose
places and races under your command at will
- A rich background filled with a truly living World
A new kind of Geopolitical Strategy, Battle
focused
- Once special places (like towns) have been enrolled,
a Zone Control System allows enemy players to steal other player controlled
places from one to another.
- Strategy geopolitically oriented: army
resources, material resources, everything depends on the piece of ground
you can control and keep.
- No peasant management for resources. Gold and units
are automatically and periodically obtained when some places are
controlled. Places like mines provide a lot of gold, so it is wise to
share resources among allies.
- Very few buildings to construct - house for faster
health recovery and place reinforcement, towers to protect places, and a
personal manor
- Necessity to work with teams for managing wide-spread
empires, for it is hard to manage large armies and many towns by oneself
- Fixed means to win, according to the chosen camp.
First: get many places and boost your karma, then accomplish key quests,
and finally destroy the 2 other headquarters enemy buildings while
protecting yours. Then, enemy heroes, will no
longer respawn, and you will just have to finish
them to win the game.
A totally living, rich and interactive World
- At night, villagers go to sleep in houses, whereas undeads wake up from the crypts
- You can talk to most non aggressive units like key NPCs or even most commoners which may give you some
tricks,
- In special cases, like for quests, NPC will directly
talk to you
- A unique random event system: the lands can be
temporary invaded by different kinds of monsters (dragon or giant raids
for example), you can find treasures on the ground, or be rallied by some
roaming units.
Miscellaneous aspects
- Very particular heroes (like the scientist or the new
Paladin), with a couple of new efficient spells (Speed of Light, Sky Fury,
Concussion Bullet.).
- A Gold carrying system: you need mules or kodo beasts to carry your gold. If they die, then the
gold is dropped on the ground. If you have a manor, no limit is fixed for
the gold. So don't hesitate to rush these units if they belong to an
enemy!
- Some powerful artifacts that can only be carried and
used by specific heroes.
- An AI sends waves against main headquarters, in case
enemy players leave the game, or if the user plays offline.
- 4 well-designed cinematics: one global introduction and
one end for each force. Note that cinematics are
not activated by default. Enter the command '@cin', 2 times to see them, before choosing a hero
at the beginning of the game.
Game Play Style
- Core Role Play - finding your way and your
Force, sticking with your mates, managing a squad of mercenaries, Hero
boosting by creeping until level 3 or 4, accomplish a few of the minor
quests on a total of ten, to modify your karma or get some gold. Duration
around 20-30 minutes.
- Epic Role Play - reinforcing your karma and
acquiring places by quests, purchasing or conquest. This is the moment
when you build your own kingdom and prepare an army. Duration around one
hour.
- War - final quests and battles against the two major
forces: conquesting places, finishing key
buildings and heroes. Duration from 1
to 3 hours, depending on the heroes and players.
This is the final version. A small further update may be released, but just to
improve unit balancing if needed, and to tackle bugs if some are found. Though
many improvements could have been done, I think it is wise to stop here, so the
game is not slow and laggy - already 788 triggers,
lots of doodads, currently, the game is fluent, but still. Besides, the map
size is already 1.30 mo (including only 100 ko of
sounds, the rest, 1.20 mo, are triggers, custom unit stats, map and variables),
which is not very quick to download on Bnet, but is
still acceptable. Thus, any comment about potential bugs and unbalances is very
welcome so I can fix it, but don't expect me to change / improve the current
whole gaming system.
A help file *.doc is provided with the map, in the zip file. And have a look at
the introduction if you haven't. Just don't forget to activate it before
choosing a hero - chat command '@cin' two
times.
