1.18.A. The PRESENT CONTINUOUS is formed with the present tense of the verb BE and the -ING form (the present participle) of the main verb. Write the -ING form of the following verbs:

1.21. The PRESENT CONTINUOS TENSE is used to express:

We're going to the cinema tonight. (I've already bought the tickets)

Ann is always doing her homework. (She spends too much time on it). They are complaining about their neighbours all the time.

We'll go for a walk while the baby is sleeping.

1.22. The PRESENT CONTINUOUS is used to express an action happening at the moment of speaking. (The action has duration and is not complete).

Situation: It is 9 o'clock in the evening. The Martins are at home.

Say what they are doing.

1. Mr. Martin / read the evening paper

Mr. Martin is reading the evening paper.

2. His wife / wash the dishes

3. Tom and Alice / watch TV

4. They / enjoy the programme very much

1.23. Answer these questions using the present continuous to express a TEMPORARY ACTION. Add adverbial such as: today, this morning, this week, this month, this year
