Wagram Electronic presents the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Café III compilation

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a Parisian neighbourhood that can but evoke the musical style that made it famous worldwide - JAZZ! Say the word, and you ca 15515j914p n't help mentioning the greatest jazzmen - from Sidney Bechet to Miles Davis, and let's not forget Duke Ellington - who, along with French intellectuals such as Boris Vian, gave the area its specificity and ensured its success in the post-war period.

This third volume of "Saint-Germain-des Prés Café" attests the interest that the new generation of musicians, DJs and producers bears to Jazz. This new form of Jazz is called Electro-Jazz or Nu-Jazz ; it succeds to the Acid Jazz from the 90's. It stands at the crossroads of electronic music and of various trends in Jazz.

On Saint-Germain-des-Prés Café Vol. 3, what you get is 17 jazzy tracks that oscillate between Swing and Soulful sounds.

This compilation has 4 unissued tracks "Made in France" - "Deep Jazz Vocal" ones by ERIC PIERRE and CRUSHO ; an instrumental track tinged with hip-hop produced by DJ CAM, and an electro cover of the classic tune "Summertime" by PATCHWORKS from Nantes.

On top of this you get a few tracks compiled for the first time such as "High Jazz", the collaborative work between JOSEPH MALIK et TRÜBY TRIO remixed by the talented Italian producer NICOLA CONTE. The same man who made the remix of "Quiet Night" coming from the excellent "RE:JAZZ" project by the German label INFRACOM.

As you listen to these jazzy tracks, you'll travel from the most energetic and electronic ones (BIG BANG) to the most vocal and melodic ones (FERTILE GROUND). This World-tour of Nu-Jazz productions starts in the US with the sound of NUSPIRIT HELSINKI, from the Chicago label GUIDANCE, then goes through Paris and the sounds of the now-famous producer LLORCA, to eventually land in England for 2 tracks which only have their nationality in common. The final approach is initiated by 4 HERO, using their alias TEK 9 to produce "We're Gettin'Down", abstract hip-hop at its purest ; then this jazz-tour is brought to an end in a spirit of humour and conviviality by the delirious, loungy adaptation of MOLOKO's hit "Sing it Back" by CAN 7.

Releases on January 20, 2003
