The film was primarily seen as a way of selling a soundtrack, but it was so successful that it ended up recouping it's production costs thirty times over! It cost 120,000 pounds and grossed more then $13 million worldwide. They also picked up a couple of Academy Awards nominations - one for the script and one for George Martin's musical direction. But the competition was stiff that year (Mary Poppins and My Fair Lady) and they missed out.

Some of the other titles considered were Beatles II, Who's Been Sleeping In My Porridge and The Day The Clowns Collapsed. But the most seriously considered was Eight Arms To Hold You ...someone had already made a film called Help, and they thought that they'd have copyright problems. But they got around it by sticking an exclamation mark on the end.

This is the bookend for A Hard Day's Night. Both were firmed at Twickenham, and both have the same 'plot' - they start off with a rehersal and end up in a performance. The only difference is that A H ARD Day's Night is semi-fictious, whereas this one is real life (i.e. no happy ending).
