MATTY ASLAN (1924-1995)

Graduate of the Fine Arts Academy of Bucharest, Matty Aslan is above all known as a well-reputed cartoonist. He introduces the concision and precision of his drawings in his cinema work, which began at the "Bucharest" Studio in the early 1950s. Although his debut 333f56d is a children's film (Poveste cu ursuleti / Teddy bear story), he is to become a dedicated satirical author. The satirical pill formula best suits this film maker who expresses himself elliptically; some of his finest moments of bravery are associated with the mini-series Organigrame / Representations and Formica. Very few Romanian animators have been able to reach the level of his satirical efficiency, which he managed to achieve with an extraordinary economy of means.
