What is the purpose of this position? Why does it exist? A position has become available for a Geophysicist with
New Ventures and prospect generation experience to work within a high-profile
multidisciplinary team tasked with evaluating, building, and in future,
operating a high value portfolio of acreage and projects in Kazakhstan. Key

Key Accountabilities |
What are the core accountabilities? For example, what decisions can the jobholder make? What decisions does the jobholder go to their manager for? Overview Delivers 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and mapping over key blocks within specified time constraints Prospect generation and evaluation including risk analysis and volumetric reserves evaluation Supervision of seismic data processing projects Provides specialist geophysical advice Recommends, scopes, plans and manages specialist projects carried out by external consultants Works closely with other sub-surface disciplines (petrophysics, reservoir engineering) and other members of the BG Advance Presents geophysical evaluations at management, peer and functional reviews Liaises with the Technical Expert user of Geoframe, Petrel, and other G&G systems (eg ArcGIS) Able to build a complex geophysical database Responsible for carrying out regional play fairway mapping, prospect generation, risk analysis and volumetric reserves evaluation Expertise in carbonate and siliclastic plays, salt basins, regional sequence stratigraphic and structural analysis would be an advantage Quantitative data analysis and interpretation Presents technical papers at BG Technical Forum |

Experience Needed |
What are the critical experiences that are needed to successfully perform this job? (Never describe experience in terms of number of years required). Experience of participating in data room analyses and evaluating data within tight time frames Ideally expertise in evaluating New Venture G&G opportunities would be an advantage Extensive knowledge of petroleum systems in salt basins Ideally will have gained subsurface experience in challenging international environments or in a Joint Venture setting Experienced user of exploration IT systems and of coordinating complex data loading projects Seismic and well planning Project and time management experience |
