Apple Strudel
Dough:
900 grams of all purpose flour
500 ml of warm water
100 ml oil (vegetable oil)
10 grams salt
2 eggs
Method:
Combine all ingredients, but add the water 828d36i little by little. Work the dough, until firm. Put the dough on a plate and leave to rest for at least 4 hours in a warm place. Roll out the dough as shown in the demonstration, while the dough is still warm. The cooler the dough becomes, the more difficult it will be to get it thin.
You may be able to find something very similar (such as filo dough) at your local supermarket.
Stuffing:
1 kg of Granny Smith Apples (around 7-8 pieces) peeled, seeded & sliced
200 grams of sugar
200 grams of melted warm butter
50 grams of raisins
5 grams of cinnamon
100 grams buttered bread crumbs
Lemon Zest and Juice
Work the dough into a very thin layer, as shown in the demonstration. Brush the dough with some melted butter. Mix the bread crumbs with half of the butter, some sugar and cinnamon and spread it on the dough evenly. Add the sliced apples, sugar, raisins, lemon zest and cinnamon to a bowl. Toss ingredients and place the mixture onto the thin layer of dough. Roll the strudel and brush the outside with the left over butter.
Bake in oven (pre-heated to 200° Celsius).Once the strudel has a nice brown color, reduce the temperature to 150°. The baking time is approximately 25-30 minutes
