Installation Guide - Version 1.3.2
NOTE: ALL computers should have at least 256MB of
memory. The computer of the instructor should have all the installations made
for the student computers !
Install IDE
For Eclipse
- Install Eclipse 2.1.4 on t 818j98i he proposed default
directory.
Install
Tomcat 4.1.XX
- Install Tomcat version 4.1.XX (Latest) on c:\tomcat4.1.
It is better to download the exe version and run the installer, which will
create shortcuts on the start menu.
- During installation you should define the
administration user as:
User: admin
Password: admin
- Test the installation using the shortcuts:
Start->Programs->Apache Tomcat 4.1->Start Tomcat
A console screen
should be opened with the server's indo.
- The default page can be accessed using the following
URL:
https://localhost:8080
Install
the Lab Files
- Create a "Web app course" directory on every
computer.
- Copy the Exercises:
- Copy the "Exercises-Eclipse" directory.
- The instructor and the students will make additional
configurations as part of the learning material.
Install
the Tools
- Copy the "Tools" directory to every computer
under the "Web app course" directory.
Install
the Rest of the Installations
Install (at least) a Word Viewer for the
students and a full Word for the instructor.
Add to the CLASSPATH variable in the system
environment the . (current) directory.
Install JDK 1.4.X +documentation (a separate
download).
Create shortcuts for the documentation (JDK) on
the desktop.
Install TextPad.
Install Winzip.
- Add to the default dos box the scroll ability (in the
dos box properties, go to the 'Layout' tab, in the 'Screen Buffer Size -
Height' change it to 300). Save the properties for all windows with the
same title.
- Install a FULL PowerPoint on the computer of the
instructor.
- Install the slides on the computer of the instructor.
- Make sure all computers have an Internet connection.
Remarks:
The final configuration of the exercises will be done by the
students & instructor in the class.
