Section 3 - PST Program Installation
The LG Download Program (LGDP) can be supplied via one CD-ROM and also comes with a "Hard lock" dongle key which must be attached to the PC's parallel or USB port for LAB/Field level LGDP in order for the program to operate.
Make sure there is no other version of LGDP installed on the PC. If there is a previous version installed, newer version will uninstall the previous one silently during installation and install the new one.
Insert

Enter the following command string in the "Run" dialog box and press enter.
To install Simple Version for POS (Store) Level LGDP
D:\PST\POS_Store_Level\LGDPv1.6_Simple_Version.msi
or
To install Professional Version for Lab (Field) Level LGDP
D:\PST\Lab_Field_Level\LGDPv1.6_Professional_Version.msi
The setup file will configure Windows Installer to install the program.
Upon clicking "Next", the LGDP End User License Agreement (EULA) will be displayed. Please review the terms and conditions. Select "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click "Next" to continue installation.
Click "Next" to begin installing LGDP onto your computer. The files will be automatically extracted and installed.
When installation is completed, the following window will be displayed. Please click "Finish". It will be necessary to reboot for the new configuration to take effect.
After installation is completed, a shortcut to LG Download will automatically appear on your desktop.
Section DLL Installation

To install all available DLLs, enter the following command string in the "Run" dialog box and press enter in turn. If higher versions are available, please install higher ones.

Section Connection Setup
For USB Cable
Note : In order to use LGDP via USB Cable, LG USB Driver needs to be installed in advance. For more information on this, please refer to Appendix A.
1. Connect one end of the provided USB Cable to a USB port on the PC and the other end to the data port located on the bottom of the phone. If the cable is correctly connected, the red status light indicator on the USB Cable box will light up.
2. On the side of the USB Cable box, there is a special connector used to attach a travel charger or cigarette lighter adapter to power the phone during use.
3. Attach the "hard lock" dongle to the PC's parallel or USB port.
Caution: Verify that the battery is fully charged prior to attempting software upgrade via phone battery. Loss of power during the upgrade process will result in a failed upgrade. The use of the external power with cable is recommended.
For USB Converter Cable
Note : In order to use LGDP via USB Converter Cable, LG USB Converter Driver needs to be installed in advance. For more information on this, please refer to Appendix A

1. Securely connect one end of the provided Serial Data Cable to a serial port on the PC and the other to the data port located on bottom of the phone. Once the cable is correctly connected, the red status light on the Serial Data Cable box will light up.
2. On the side of the Serial Data Cable box, there is a special connector used to attach a travel charger or cigarette lighter adapter to power the phone during use.
3. Attach the "hard lock" dongle to the computer's parallel or USB port.
Caution: Verify that the battery is fully charged prior to attempting software upgrade via phone battery. Loss of power during the upgrade process will result in a failed upgrade. The use of the external power with cable is recommended.
Section - Getting Started
In this section, we will provide a quick overview of LGDP to get you started.
Before operating LGDP, please make sure that correct type of I/O cable is used (USB, USB Converter or RS-232-C Serial Cable
To run LGDP, double-click on the LGDP shortcut icon located on the desktop.
Appendix A - Port Settings
1. How to install LG USB Driver
Note : If same or higher version is already installed on PC, user can skip this process.
Run LGUSBModemDriver_Ver_X.X.exe by double clicking exe file that is located on
D:\USB\True_USB_Driver\LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.6.exe
When installation is completed, click "OK". A Phone must be connected through USB cable from this point on. Then, LG CDMA USB Modem, LG CDMA Composite USB Device and LG CDMA USB Serial Port drivers will be installed automatically and LGDP can be used via USB Cable.
2. How to install LG USB Converter Driver
Note : If same or higher version is already installed on PC, user can skip this process.
Run LGUsbConverterDriver_Ver_x.x.exe by double clicking exe file that is located on
D:\USB\USB_Converter_Driver\LGUsbConverterDriver_Ver_1.00.2154.exe
If incompatibility issue with Windows XP dialog box comes up at any point during the setup, always select "Continue Anyway". This dialog box may come up more than once.
When Windows prompts to restart your PC, close all programs and click "Yes". After the computer has been restarted, Mobile phone can be used via USB Converter Cable.
A Phone must be connected through USB Converter cable from this point on. Then, LG USB Converter Cable and LG USB Serial Port drivers will be installed automatically. If incompatibility issue with Windows XP dialog box comes up at any point during the setup, always select "Continue Anyway". This dialog box may come up more than once.
3. How to connect the phone through USB, USB Converter or Serial (RS- 232-C) cable
Run LGDP program by double clicking the shortcut.
Normally, if the cable is correctly connected and port setting is done, all available ports are detected automatically. If automatic port detection is not working well, you can check the port setting and set it manually on Port Setting menu located in the "Config(C)" menu bar.
Check the COM port number that the phone is connected to and click OK.
When the right phone information is displayed in the right panel and all the states say "OK", then the phone is connected to LGDP successfully.
Make sure the DLL path is correct in the status bar. This is located in the bottom of right corner on LGDP program.
