ORDER TO ABANDON SHIP STATION

The Abandon ship station is ordered by Master and announced with 7 short blasts and 1 long blast of the general emergency alarm

This is followed by the announcement "Abandon ship station, stand-by the launching of lifeboats" three times.

Upon hearing this signal, all crew must assemble at the assigned station wearing heavy clothing as possible, a lifejacket, a safety helmet and safety shoes.

After preparing launching, Officer-in-charge must lower the boat to the embarkation deck and take a roll call and then report to Master.

Abandon ship is officially announced by Master.

When the lifeboat is not available, Master shall announce the fact and crew shall prepare launching the life rafts immediately. Duties and assigned things are same as this Muster List when using life rafts.

The Muster List shall be prepared before the ship proceeds to sea.

If any changes have been made in the list, Master shall correct it immediately.

Chief Officer is responsible to Master that all life-saving appliances are maintained in good condition and ready for immediate use. Third Officer should assist Chief Officer.

The substitute for the key person shall be the person next in rank of that key person.
