Those guys, who like winter flight, know,
that it's very difficult to start cold engine. You need warm it up, before
starting. Some times ago, I've used a sma 959o149j ll gas burner, but it was very
unconvenient. A hard winter often blowed burner out. That's why I've done an
electric heater with transistor. This heater appeared to be more comfortable in
use.
Heater is powered by 12-volt battery, used with starter. Transistor is mounter with screw at back cover. Engine body is connected to battery "minus", and Heater wire is connected to battery "plus".
The Heater contains only 2 details and it can be tuned easy. You should only select R1, to set trasistor current 2,0-2,5A. In such conditions, transistor dissipates about 25-30W of heat. That's enougth to warm up engine in 5-10 minutes.
