Work report for the "Artemis Orchestra " project, Bereczki Rita
Work done this week:
I created a conversion table from flute notes to actuators last week and this time I inserted a column with the MIDI numbers. Please find the attachment.
Last week I mentioned some values ("The flute needs ~40-80mbar and a constant flow of ~10 l /min.") this was only approximation, because I can't made measurements without a flout and a musician. I have a home made
- We created a circuit with galvanic isolation, used to receive MIDI data from the computer. The general schematic was taken from different sites.

- We documented about the midi format and the traducers we found. We found some products that might be taken into account:
Air Blower:
About the products: The flute needs ~40-80mbar and a constant flow of ~10 l /min.
~30gf for the flute, due to this we recommend to use an air blower not compressor. In case of using compressor, the flute needs a pressure regulator and a buffer to filter the oscillations from the regulator, so, we think the air blower idea is better.

Quoting form the website: "ACI Multistage Blowers are direct driven blowers offer quiet running and maintenance free solutions for many higher pressure applications. Direct mounting of the impellers and low motor speeds, produce minimal noise levels as well as high pressure performance and the modular system design offers a wide choice in the number of stages and power supply requirements."
p=37w - 120W
Noise: 53.3 - 64.8dB(A)1M F
Weight: 3.5 - 12Kgs
There is another idea for blower: electric air pump, for inflatables, and is much more cheaper than the industrial solution (about 12 USD!). The link can be found on

Here is a picture of the product:
We don't know about the noise yet, but it worth to try at this price
Electromagnetic actuators we found:
Look at www.farnell.com, choose, for example, UK (possibly the finnish version is better) and search for order code 1207158
Here is a picture of the product:

- Created a schematic for electromagnet command. The schematic is yet for one electromagnet command, but it will be extended for 16 actuators. Also power driver IC options will be taken into account.
- Created a conversion table from flute notes to actuators, please find the attached flute_conversion.zip file
