Who Should Be Chosen?
InuYasha
is a torn man. He cannot chose between two women due to the previous
circumstances of fifty years ago. He truly loves both women, Kikyou and Kagome.
But, who should he chose?
To analyze this situation one must first u 19119o149t nderstand who the two women are.
Kagome is fifteen, sixteen towards the end of the series, and comes from
another time, which I'm sure every InuYasha fan knows. Kikyou is an eighteen,
technically speaking, year old miko who was resurrected. Again, that's old news.
InuYasha hangs on to his previous emotions and love for Kikyou because she was
the only one to truly accept him. They had a very deep connection that very few
people can share. He still protects and cares for her because he feels a sense
of duty, it was partially his fault she died and it was partially his fault she
was resurrected. But, when he was pinned to the Go-Shinboko and was reborn by
Kagome, things began to change for him. Kagome is an entirely different person
than Kikyou. Their faces and powers may be the same but that's where the
similarity ends. InuYasha found something in Kagome that he never found in
Kikyou. A friend. Sure, he was in love with Kikyou. But, that's the only kind
of relationship they had. With Kagome, he could tell her things and express his
feelings. That is, everything except the fact that he loved her. Kagome also
feel for InuYasha because she truly and deeply cared about him.
So, InuYasha is not so much torn between two loves so much as torn between his
true love and the sense of duty to protect the one he hurt. He loves Kikyou,
and yet, he doesn't.
But, even so, it is not fair to assume that Kikyou doesn't love InuYasha. She
loves him more than her own life, and that is why she continues to live on. She
also truly hates him as well, due to the fact that hatred is what she was born
from. But, the one who loves InuYasha the most is Kagome. She doesn't care
about the shards or killing Naraku so much as seeing InuYasha.
So, in conclusion, InuYasha should chose Kagome over Kikyou. But, that is not
because Kikyou is evil or whatever. It is because that Kagome truly loves him
the most and deserves to be with him
