Access list 2007/2008

The information on this page is based upon the access list 2007/08 that UEFA sent to the national associations in February 2007. The access list includes the entries for the title holders. Since the Champions League cup-holder will be from one of the top-15 ranked countries they will come in at the expense of the last-placed side of that association, in case they don't qualify by their domestic league. This implies that the champions of the 23th and 24th countries on the ranking list (Denmark and Hungary) have direct access to the 2nd qualifying round, and the champion of the 16th country on the ranking list (Switzerland) has direct access to the 3rd qualifying round.

Scotland and Norway did not apply for the Intertoto Cup. Therefore Denmark and Hungary may start in round 2, and Romania can sent an extra team to the 1st round. Also Andorra was invited to take part, and starts in round 1.

This page shows a list of teams qualified for the 2007/2008 season of the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. In the list below the country coefficients are from the UEFA Country Ranking 2006 and the team coefficients from the UEFA Team Ranking 2007. The team coefficients are used for seeding of draws. See UEFA European Cup Football for more information.

The number of teams of each country is determined by the position in the UEFA Country Ranking 2006, extended with 11 Intertoto + 3 Fair Play teams for the UEFA Cup.

Since the Champions League cup-holder will be from one of the top-15 ranked countries they will come in at the expense of the last-placed side of that association, in case they don't qualify by their domestic league. The UEFA Congress at January 26, decided that clubs from Montenegro, UEFA's newest member association, and Andorra and San Marino will play in the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League. Therefore the number of teams in the 1st qualifying round is increased by 6 teams. This implies that the champion of the 25th country on the ranking list (Croatia) will have to play in the 1st qualifying round. The champions of the 23th and 24th countries on the ranking list (Denmark and Hungary) gain direct access to the 2nd qualifying round, and the champion of the 16th country on the ranking list (Switzerland) has direct access to the 3rd qualifying round.

In the UEFA Cup 1st qualifying round the places of the champions of Andorra and San Marino (which take part in the Champions League) will be taken by the cup-winners of those countries. In order to adapt the schedule to the two new clubs from Montenegro, UEFA's newest member association, the 3rd UEFA Cup team of the 16th and 17th countries on the ranking list (Switzerland and Bulgaria) will have to play in the 1st qualifying round.
