Symbols can be made from paths with a variety of strokes and fills, groups, or text blocks.
To create a symbol using the menu commands:
Select the object you want 343q161d to convert into a symbol.
Choose Modify > Symbol > Convert to Symbol. This creates a symbol of the selected object and makes the selected object into an instance of that symbol.
or
Choose Modify > Symbol > Copy to Symbol. This creates a symbol of the selected object but leaves the selected object unchanged.

New symbols appear in the Library and are given the name Graphic-##
To create a symbol using the Library:
Select the object you want 343q161d to convert.
Choose New Graphic from the Library submenu
or
Click the New Symbol icon at the bottom of the Library. This creates a symbol of the selected object but leaves the selected object unchanged.
To duplicate a symbol:
Select the symbol you want to duplicate
Choose Duplicate from the Library submenu. A new symbol appears with the prefix Copy of before the name.
To change the name of a symbol:
Choose Rename from the Library menu. This highlights the name
Type the new name for the symbol.

You can also double-click to highlight the name.
