You have to create the next kind of fill-called a Tiled fill - by yourself. Other programs may call this a pattern.
To create and apply a Tiled fill:
Copy the artwork that you want to repeat in other objects
Select the object you want to fill with the Tiled fill.
Choose Tiled from the Fill inspector popup menu.
Click Paste in. The artwork you copied appears in the Tiled preview box . The selected object displays the Tiled fill
TIP
To make the background of the Tiled fill transparent, leave the artwork on an empty area or on a rectangle with no fill.
TIP
To give the Tiled fill a white or colored background, place the artwork on a rectangle filled with white or the color. Select the artwork and the rectangle to paste into the Tiled fill box.
TIP
The more complex the tiled artwork, the longer it takes for your screen to redraw and for the artwork to print.
TIP
Tiled fills cannot contain objects that have Lens fills or Tiled fills applied to them.
TIP
Tiled fills cannot contain bitmapped graphics.
To adjust a Tiled fill:
With the Fill inspector displayed, select the Tiled fill object.
To change the size of the Tiled fill , use the Scale % x and y fields. To scale the fill uniformly, use the same amounts for both the x and y fields.
To move a Tiled fill within the object , enter positive or negative values in the Offset x and y fields.
TIP
Positive x values in the Offset field move the fill to the right. Negative x values in the Offset field move the fill to the left. Positive y values in the Offset field move the fill up. Negative y values in the Offset field move the fill down.
To angle a Tiled fill within the object , move the angle wheel or enter the exact angle in the Angle field.
