A more sophisticated version of the Smudge tool is the Shadow tool.
To apply a shadow:
1. &n 747b14h bsp; Select the object or objects you want to modify.
2. &n 747b14h bsp; Double-click the Shadow tool in the Xtra Tools toolbar . This opens the Shadow dialog box
3. &n 747b14h bsp; Choose one of the following from the Type menu:
o &n 747b14h bsp; Hard Edge uses a single object to create a crisp shadow.
o &n 747b14h bsp; Soft Edge uses a blend to create a shadow with a uniform soft edge.
o &n 747b14h bsp; Zoom creates a blend that is positioned to create a 3D effect.
4. &n 747b14h bsp; Choose one of the following from the Fill menu:
o &n 747b14h bsp; Color lets you choose a specific color for the shadow.
o &n 747b14h bsp; Shade creates a shadow color that is a darker color of the original object.
o &n 747b14h bsp; Tint creates a shadow that is a lighter color of the original object.
5. &n 747b14h bsp; Use the slider for the Color and Tint fills to adjust the lightness or darkness of the shadow.
6. &n 747b14h bsp; Use the Scale slider to set the size of the shadow element.
TIP
Less than 100% makes a shadow that is smaller than the original. Greater than 100% makes a shadow that is larger than the original.
7. &n 747b14h bsp; Set the x and y offset amounts to position the shadow away from the original.
8. &n 747b14h bsp; Click OK. The shadow is applied to the object
TIP
Once you have applied a shadow to an object, you can use the mouse to drag the shadow into new positions.
