AOL XP Integration
Adding the AOL Site into the Windows Welcome (OOBE)
Please change into the Directory %Windir%\System32\oobe\ of the OEM Machine, where "%Windir%" is the your Windows Directory (e.g. "C:\Windows").
Please make a security copy of "MSOBSHEL.HTM" on harddisk or diskdrive, to switch to the original state of your machine, if neccessary.
Copy the modified "MSOBSHEL.HTM" from AOL into this folder: %Windir%\System32\oobe\
Copy the AOL folder into the directory: %Windir%\System32\oobe\html\
Result
The AOL Site will be included in your standard Windows Welcome Process and will be shown as the last screen.
To switch off the Windows XP Desktop CleanUp click the file "DesktopCleaner.reg" delivered from AOL.
This files generates a Windows Registry Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OemStartMenueData
The value of the key OemDesktopCleanupDisable will be "1".
Important: If you switch off the DCW, you maybe have to place a MSN Icon next to the AOL Icon to be Microsoft conform. Please check your OEM contact, if this is neccessary.
If you would like to place AOL as the Default Internet and Mail Applikation, click right on the systemtray, choose "properties" and "startmenu". Then click the button "custom" and choose "AOL" as the default internet-application. You choose AOL also as the default mail-application or mark the checkbox to delete the Mail Link inside the startmenu.
Now you can reseal the OEM machine with the parameter "Sysprep.exe -reseal".
